Finabah wins I Am With The Band 2011

Queensland band Finabah is officially Australia’s hottest emerging music act, beating tough competition to be crowned the official winner of Nova’s I Am With The Band competition.

With over 19,200 votes registered for the finalists through www.iamwiththeband.com.au, this afternoon Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa announced Finabah as the winner. The band wins $10,000 cash, a mentoring and rehearsal session and studio time with Sony Music Entertainment, airplay on Nova and will perform with the Logitech Rock the Schools tour.

Having released three singles and currently working on a debut album, Finabah has supported some of Australia’s biggest names including Amy Meredith, Kate Miller-Heidke and Thirsty Merc.

Finabah said, “This competition means the world to us. In an industry where it is so difficult to get a leg up, the recognition, exposure and funding is really amazing. To be classed as up and coming, we are quite proud of that, as it means we’ve got a good future ahead.”

Kim from Duncraig in WA will take home $5000 just for voting for her favourite band.

The I Am With The Band music initiative returned in 2011 with a new partner, the Australian Government’s National Drugs Campaign. The partnership offered emerging artists the opportunity to propel their careers and to help raise awareness of the effects of ecstasy use among young Australians.

The National Drugs Campaign would like to congratulate Finabah. The band’s entry in the competition, Killing for Bad Dreams, explores the negative effects of drug use on friends and relationships.
