DMG Radio Australia and Stereosonic announce the launch of Stereo Star, a new initiative to give individuals an opportunity to become Nova’s official festival photographers at Stereosonic events around the country.
Stereo Star, an evolution of Nova and Stereosonic’s existing partnership, supported by Stereosonic sponsor Strongbow Cider, offers a unique opportunity which is aspirational yet achievable by anyone attending festivals with most people taking their own photos and uploading to popular social networking sites.
Mohit Bhargava, DMG Radio’s Digital Product Manager said “Stereo Star offers a level of access into festivals combined with above the line media scale that would be unachievable without Nova and Stereosonic combining our strengths. We have strategically positioned each platform - radio, online, on street and social - to naturally align with the target’s user experience around music events, delivering a seamless branded experience for Strongbow.”
Stereosonic’s John Curtin said, “We have had a long partnership with Nova for all our festivals and are extremely excited to be co-creating Stereo Star. Not only is it an amazing prize but is perfect for our demographic. Stereosonic is looking like the biggest yet and this is just another great part of it.”
An individual’s festival experience is heightened and extended through the taking, sharing and reviewing of photos. Stereo Star takes this experience to a new level. Potential photographers can share the way they express their festival experience by uploading five party pics to a dedicated application on Facebook (housed on Nova’s Facebook profile) and explaining in 25 words their vision for shooting their state’s Stereosonic festival.
An industry judging panel will select a finalist from each state to score $1000 and be an official festival photographer with an All Access pass to their local Stereosonic event. Nova will orchestrate appropriate access so the five finalists have the best opportunity to capture the photos that reflect their vision.
Clive Coleman, Strongbow’s Group Marketing Manager said, “Our objective is to capture that Summer holiday spirit message and bring it to life through delivering the best brand experience for consumers. The Stereo Star concept is a fantastic way of amplifying the Stereosonic festival experience so we’re thrilled to be involved.”
The state finalists upload their best 20 Stereosonic photos to the Stereo Star’s Facebook page and then campaign through Nova and Stereosonic for votes. Anyone who backs the winner of the competition could win $2000 and a double pass to Stereosonic 2012 just for voting. The finalist whose festival photos are judged the best from around Australia by public vote will be crowned Stereo Star 2011 and score $5000.
Jenny Parkes, DMG Radio Australia’s Group Sales Director said, “We are delighted to be able to create and tailor this exciting initiative that provides amplification to Strongbow’s festival sponsorship and aligns Stereosonic and Nova’s individual strengths to create a collaborative platform.”
Registrations for Stereo Star will launch nationally on Monday 26 September with the five state finalists announced prior to Stereosonic’s first festival date.
